How We Approach Every Job
Whatever service a watch needs, the process at Nakara Time follows the same sequence. The piece arrives — in person or by post — and is given a thorough assessment. We note the condition of the movement, case, dial, and hands, and identify any concerns worth addressing. This assessment is written up and shared with you before any decision is taken.
Once scope and cost are agreed, work begins. Components are disassembled and cleaned, worn parts are replaced or fabricated, and the movement is reassembled with appropriate lubricants. After regulation, the movement is tested on a timing machine across multiple positions and recorded. The watch is then returned with that documentation.

Routine Service Package
A foundational service for working watches. The movement is fully disassembled, cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, lubricated with watchmaker-grade oils, and regulated for timing accuracy across multiple positions. An honest condition note accompanies the return of the piece, noting anything worth monitoring in the future — without pressure to address it immediately.

Service Two
Dial & Hand Restoration
A careful restoration of worn dials and faded or damaged hands, carried out only after the owner has agreed on the extent of the work. For sentimental pieces, the appearance of the dial matters as much as the accuracy of the movement. We take time to discuss the options — whether to preserve an honest aged surface or to restore a cleaner appearance — before committing to any approach.

Service Three
Complete Vintage Restoration
A patient, comprehensive overhaul for older mechanical wristwatches and pocket watches, including movements where components must be fabricated by hand. Recommended for collectors, inherited pieces, or watches that have not run for many years. Each project starts with a thorough assessment and a clear written explanation of the proposed work, and the timeline is set generously — this kind of restoration is never rushed.

Standards That Apply to Every Job
Secure Piece Handling
Each watch is labelled and stored in a padded compartment throughout its stay. Nothing is left unsecured overnight or during other work.
Watchmaker-Grade Lubricants
The lubricants used match the jewel types and design of each calibre. General-purpose substitutes are not acceptable where the right oil exists.
Timing Machine Verification
All movements are measured on a timing machine in at least three positions before collection. Results are recorded and returned with the piece.
No Work Without Agreement
Nothing begins and no cost is incurred until the written assessment has been reviewed and the scope approved by the owner.
Complete Service Record
A printed service record accompanies every returned watch, noting what was done, what parts were used or made, and the timing results.
Workmanship Coverage
All completed services carry a coverage period for the watchmaking work performed, with terms stated in writing at collection.
