A Watchmaker's Care,
Given to Every Piece
Nakara Time offers thoughtful servicing and restoration for mechanical watches and pocket watches — with honest assessments and no pressure to go further than needed.
What We Offer
Our Services
Routine Service Package
A foundational service for working watches — thorough movement cleaning, fresh lubrication, and timing regulation. We provide an honest condition note and mention anything worth watching, without pressure. Most watches are ready within a few weeks.
- Movement disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning
- Fresh lubrication with watchmaker-grade oils
- Timing regulation on multiple positions
- Written condition report
Dial & Hand Restoration
A delicate restoration of worn dials and tired hands — carried out only with the owner's agreement on scope. Ideal for sentimental watches where appearance matters as much as accuracy. We always discuss whether to keep an honest aged look before beginning.
- Careful dial cleaning or specialist repainting
- Hand replacement or refinishing
- Discussion of patina and original character
- Scope and cost confirmed before work begins
Complete Vintage Restoration
A patient, comprehensive restoration for older mechanical watches and pocket watches, including movements requiring parts fabricated by hand. Recommended for collectors and inherited pieces. Each project begins with an assessment and written explanation — this work is never rushed.
- Sourcing or hand-fabricating replacement parts
- Rust and pivot wear treatment
- Original dial conservation
- Generous timelines, written project plan
Why Nakara Time
Qualities That Set Our Work Apart
Skilled Watchmaking Hands
Each piece is handled personally by our trained watchmaker, not passed through a chain of technicians.
Honest Condition Assessments
We explain what we find in plain language, giving you everything needed to decide how to proceed — with no obligation to go further.
Written Scope Before Work Begins
For every service, you receive a clear written note of what will be done and what it will cost, before we touch the movement.
Respect for Original Character
We discuss patina, ageing, and your preferences before any cosmetic work — an honest aged dial is often worth preserving.
Unhurried Timelines
Quality mechanical work takes the time it needs. We keep you informed and never rush a piece that deserves care.
Parts Sourced or Hand-Made
For rare movements, we source period-correct components or fabricate them — we don't turn away a watch simply because parts are scarce.
A Quiet Invitation
Is There a Watch Waiting on Your Shelf?
Many watches simply need attention — a service, a replaced hand, or a patient overhaul. Bring yours in or write to us, and we will give you an honest picture of where it stands.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which service my watch needs?
A short description of the watch, its condition, and any symptoms is usually enough for us to suggest a starting point. We are happy to take a look in person at no charge and give you our honest view before any decision is made.
How long does a routine service typically take?
Most routine services are completed within two to three weeks. More detailed work, such as dial restoration or vintage overhauls, takes longer — we will discuss a realistic timeline at the outset and keep you informed along the way.
Do you work on quartz watches as well as mechanical ones?
Our focus is mechanical and automatic movements, including vintage pocket watches. We do not currently offer servicing for quartz movements, as the work calls for different tooling and specialist parts.
What if parts are no longer available for my watch?
For movements where original spares are no longer made, we source period-correct components from watchmaker stocks or, where necessary, fabricate replacement parts by hand. We will always explain this clearly in the written assessment and confirm the approach before proceeding.
Will restoration reduce the value of a collector's piece?
This is an important question and one we take seriously. For collector pieces, an over-polished case or refinished dial can affect desirability. We discuss the options in detail before any cosmetic work — in many cases, conservation rather than restoration is the right path, and we are glad to follow that direction.
Can I send my watch by post?
We welcome watches sent from other provinces and from abroad. Please write to us first so we can advise on careful packing and a suitable postal method. We will confirm receipt as soon as the piece arrives and proceed with the assessment from there.
What does your service warranty cover?
Each completed service comes with a period of cover for the work carried out. The terms and duration are outlined in writing when we return the piece. This covers our workmanship — it does not include damage from a subsequent impact, water ingress beyond the watch's own water resistance rating, or general wear.
